We focus on insulin dependent diabetes and sickle cell disease. Both of these diseases can be well controlled in developed countries and people can live full lives. But in Sierra Leone, these diseases are usually death sentences with life expectancy in the 20’s. Some of the medications can cost a full month’s wages, making them completely unattainable for most people.
