James Fernando
MD
Medical Director at the hospital, trained in Family Medicine and board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He has worked at the hospital since 2019 doing both administrative as well as clinical tasks. He has a passion for teaching and palliative care.
Rachel Fernando
Physician Assistant
She has worked at the hospital since 2019. She currently works part time doing rounds on the pediatrics ward. She is also head of the weekly sickle cell clinic and leads the training of hospital staff in sickle cell education and management.
Ifeanyichukwu Ogbonnaya
MD — MBBS, FCS (ECSA)
Chief surgeon at the hospital who trained with PAACS to become a Consultant General Surgeon. He and his family moved to Sierra Leone and joined the Waterloo Adventist Hospital in 2024.
Benjamin Koroma
Md
He works part time with the Waterloo Adventist Hospital assisting in managing both inpatients and outpatients. He educates the advanced practitioners and has a passion for quality improvement projects.
Henry Sankoh
md
Works part time with the Waterloo Adventist Hospital. He primarily focuses on complex inpatients and has a special passion for nephrology related cases.
James Bobor Abu
Clinical Health Officer
Mr. Abu is 57 years old, married with two biological children and eleven other children from family members. He has spent his entire life working for Seventh Day Adventist institutions. His first job started with Masanga Leprosy Hospital in 1987. The hospital was later closed because of the civil war and I sent an application for work at ADRA in Waterloo, where I worked in the clinic until the end of the war. The hospital became the Waterloo Adventist Hospital and he was employed as one of the first staff and have been working for the past 25+ years.
Augustine James Sesay
Clinical Health Officer
A graduate from Njala with a diploma in Community Health Officer (CHO) in 2019. Previously has worked with the government hospital in Kenema as well with MSF. He joined the Waterloo Adventist Hospital in 2021. He works as a clinician with the inpatient wards, outpatient clinic, mobile clinic, as well as ultrasonography for the hospital. He coordinates with the Ministry of Health as surveillance officer and the IPC supervisor.
Abdulai Kargbo
Clinical Health Officer
Works clinically with the Waterloo Adventist Hospital, both with inpatients and outpatients. He has an interest in maternal and child health and communicable diseases.
John Keabin
Physiotherapist
Graduated from Njala University in 2025 and immediately joined the Waterloo Adventist Hospital. He provided comprehensive physiotherapy care for both inpatients and outpatients.
Sahid Victor Ndoko
Clinical Health Officer |
Biomedical Engineer
He holds a Higher National Diploma in Clinical Health from Njala University (graduating as the best student in 2018) and specialized training in Biomedical Engineering from Valley View University, Ghana, conducted by Adventist Health International, where he again earned top honors in 2021. In October 2024, he completed specialized training in Radiology, Dental, and General Equipment Maintenance in Malawi. At the hospital he works in clinical practice as well as repairs and support for medical equipment. His work bridges the gap between frontline patient care and the technical maintenance of life-saving devices.
Momoh James Koroma
Clinical Health Officer
Initially joined the Waterloo Adventist Hospital as a CHO. His roles expanded to Sonographer as well as inventory officer. He continues to work part time with the hospital while on study leave pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences. He is passionate about clinical work, healthcare leadership and capacity building in Africa.
John Max Conteh
Clinical Health Officer
He is passionate about patients in the outpatient department as well as outreaches with mobile clinic and work with orphanages. He also performs rounds on the inpatients, works night shifts, and enjoys teaching both medical practitioners and nurses.
Vandi Bunduka
Clinical Health Officer
He has been a CHO since 2021 and has a passion for pediatrics as well as general medicine. He works in the hospital’s ultrasonography department while also covering night shifts and ward rounds.
