During the months of June and early July 2021 there was a major increase in COVID cases in Sierra Leone. As the 3rd wave swept through the country, the hospital began to fill up. Soon almost every bed was filled with a patient with respiratory symptoms and requiring oxygen. The government’s COVID section of the hospital was expanded once again, but it did not envelop the whole hospital as before. But the hospital staff remained strong and vigilant. There were no cases of COVID transferring from a patient to a staff member. Now the wave has passed and the numbers are decreasing again. Vaccination rates are slowly improving after the 3rd wave as people realize now the threat COVID poses. We thank God for all of his blessings with healing and protection as well as our supporters for their persistent giving during these difficult times.
