First Volunteers Post COVID

When COVID forced itself on the world, it disrupted almost every aspect of international travel. We had multiple volunteer groups who were forced to cancel their trips to help in Sierra Leone. But now with travel restrictions lifting and the availability of the vaccine increasing, we’ve had our first set of volunteers since COVID!

Fredrik Kozma and Carina Salzer come from Sweden and Germany respectively. They attended the same medical school. Fredrik has finished medical school and before starting further training, elected to come help in Sierra Leone. Carina has one more year of medical school remaining and graciously gave one month of her time to the hospital. It has been excellent having them join us. It benefits the patients as well as rejuvenates the staff. They are truly blessings sent by God.

During their time they got to experience mobile clinics into remote villages, routine medical care in orphanages, critically ill patients in the hospital, and learn about the lab. But it wasn’t all work. They also got to experience the wonderful local SDA church as well as natural beauty of Sierra Leone’s beaches which are only 30 minutes’ drive from the hospital.

We were so blessed by their visit and the help they provided. If you are interested in visiting or volunteering at the hospital, please contact: info@adventisthealthsystem.sl
